ND-WB’s Julianna Hill scored six goals in a match this season. She has nine goals and three assists this season.

Julianna Hill is a scoring machine.

No matter where she is on the pitch, the Notre Dame-West Burlington/Danville junior is a threat to put the ball in the back of the net.

Hill, normally one of the tallest players on the Nikes’ girls soccer team, is dangerous on set pieces for the Nikes, using her height to head balls toward goal.

Hill, who started as a defender, is now playing midfield for the Nikes, who are 2-1 heading into Thursday’s match at Wapello.

The Nikes will get a major test on Saturday when they play in the Catholic Tournament at Davenport. That events features Class 1A’s second-ranked Davenport Assumption and 12th-ranked Dubuque Wahlert.

Hill has scored nine goals and assisted on three others for 21 points through three matches.

She has 18 shots on goal.

For her career, Hill has 33 goals and 18 assists for 84 points in 34 matches, with 77 shots on goal.

She has helped the Nikes to a combined 22-18 record over those two-plus seasons.

The Hawk Eye recently caught up with Hill, the High School Athlete of the Week, to learn a little more about her.

What is your favorite sport besides soccer?

Basketball.

What is it that you like about soccer?

I love that it is a team sport. Having great teammates to laugh and play with is one of the best things about soccer. I’m also lucky enough to meet and play with so many amazing people through playing soccer throughout the country.

What is your best memory in soccer?

My first (Olympic Development Program) Regional Camp: a five-day camp to eat, play soccer, sleep, and repeat.

I got to be pushed by playing and becoming friends with some of the best players in the country. I met some of the best coaches I’ve ever had. It was just a great overall experience.

How do you and your teammates make practice fun?

Fun games and just having fun being with each other, making jokes, and being goofy.

Do you have any pregame or game-day routines and what are they?

I usually visualize myself playing a game throughout the day. Visualizing every touch, pass, tackle, how I’m going to react to bad moments, and good moments.

I also tape my wrist and write some of my favorite sayings on the tape.

Who is the funniest person on the team and why?

Definitely, Lexi Korschgen. She always makes me laugh at every practice either by saying something or doing something funny.

Who is your biggest role model and why?

My older brother, Justin. I grew up watching his soccer games, how hard he worked, and how he was a great leader. I want to be a lot like him and even better.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

Any subject that involves science (biology, chemistry, physical science), I love learning how things work.

What is your favorite meal?

Chicken alfredo

What is your favorite TV show?

Psych

If you won the lottery, what would your first purchase be and why?

A huge vacation for my family. My family is one of the most important things in my life, and I would want to give them the trip of a lifetime.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time and why?

Anything to do with art.

Such as drawing, painting, sketching, woodworking, pottery. Art allows me to be creative and it helps me relax.

What is your favorite motivational slogan or quote?

Hebrews 12:11 — No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

What are your future plans for college and career?

I am looking to play soccer in college, as I just verbally committed to play Division I soccer at Northern Illinois University a couple weeks ago.

I am currently undecided about my major.

What is something about yourself that would surprise people?

I may seem very serious when you first meet me, but I’m actually a complete goofball.
