Notre Dame-West Burlington one win from boys state soccer tournament
The Notre Dame-West Burlington boys’ soccer team is one win away from making its third straight trip to the state tournament after earning a 1-0 win over Central DeWitt in a Class 2A substate semifinal match Monday at Davenport Assumption.
Seena Nowroozi scored the lone goal of the match off an assist from Hunter Lillie in the second half.
Nikes’ goalkeeper Matthew Booten came up with seven saves to shut out the Sabers.
Notre Dame-West Burlington (15-6) advances to a substate final to face second-ranked Assumption (15-1) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Davenport Assumption.

Madalynn Knapp had a home run and a double, drove in five runs and scored twice as the Falcons blanked the Chiefs in a four-inning season opener at Joyce Park in Keokuk.
Anna Engberg was 3-for-3 and scored three runs for the Falcons while Lauren Krieger had a double, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Elise Oleson, Shona Anderson and Paige Kramer each drove in a run for the Falcons.
Lauren Summers had a double and drove in two runs.
She picked up the win in the circle, allowing two hits and striking out nine.
Taeja Anderson and Bella Crews each contributed singles for the Chiefs.
