Taylor Lundgren is not one to shy away from a challenge.
As the starting goalkeeper for the Notre Dame-West Burlington high school boys soccer team, Lundgren takes an aggressive approach. He is not afraid to take chance, leaving the box to race for a ball before the forward can reach it.
More often than not, Lundgren’s style has paid off.
The Notre Dame High School senior has allowed just three goals while making 13 saves in three matches for the 2-1 Nikes.
Now in his third season as goalkeeper for the Nikes — he split time with Matthew Booten as a sophomore — Lundgren has played 2,115 minutes, allowing 26 goals and making 97 saves.
Lundgren is no limited to playing on the pitch. As the placekicker for the West Burlington-Notre Dame football team the last four years, Lundgren has been a force. In the last two seasons, Lundgren averaged 45.3 yards per kickoff, made 3-of-4 field goal attempts with a long of 27 yards and was 54-of-68 on PATs.
The Hawk Eye recently caught up with Lundgren, the High School Athlete of the Week, to learn a little more about him.
